AVANTWHATEVER FESTIVAL JULY 13-17 2016

Avantwhatever Festival was a five day showcase of contemporary experimental music held  in Triple R FM’s Performance Space in Brunswick in July 2016.  Running from Wednesday July 13 to Sunday July 17, the event included four nights of concerts at the station as well as talks, workshops and outdoor performances along the nearby Merri Creek. Featured were international guests Gabi Losoncy (US), Jason Lescalleet (US) and Manfred Werder (CH) alongside Melbourne and Australia’s most unique talents, all pushing the boundaries of music as we know it. The festival was about broadening notions of what music can be and includes a whole range of approaches – scores, field recording, electronics, improvisation, beats, rock and more.
