Avantwhatever is proud to present Mike Majkowski’s Tremolo as the next in our series of limited edition releases. Majkowski is interested in extending the technical possibilities of double bass bowing techniques, paying close attention to the tremolo technique. Tremolo was constructed over the course of about four months in 2011 but is a continuation of solo work he began in 2008. The piece is based on a number of sonic possibilities – both harmonic and textural – that may be extracted from the use of this technique, which serve as a point of departure. This recording captures a memorable and particularly focused performance of the piece. It’s available from our online store on CD – packaged in beautiful 100% post-consumer recycled wallet and labeling, printed with recycled toner cartridges, hand numbered and including a digital copy – for only AUD$10. It’s strictly limited to 100 physical copies but you can also download it as high quality 320kbps MP3 or FLAC files for AUD$5.
